The
5 P's: |
1.
PREPARATION - Research, Identity requirements, logo, branding,
company structure, etc. How well does your prototype reflect that
you've analyzed and researched the elements given by The Starwood
Beach Resort? |
* Location |
* Target Market(s) |
~ Families |
~ Travel agents |
~ International audience |
* Branding usage (logo and color usage) |
* Appropriate ameneties, such as fax and 800 services and other
'competitive' business factors |
* Short- and long-term goals of the company |
2.
PROTOTYPING - Did you "Greek" or did you create copy? Does your
prototype have a natural "flow," no matter which way you created the
copy? |
3.
PERFORMANCE - Usability and User Engagement - will the technology
support your content? Are the actions you propose and the results a
user will get, realistic and in good design,
interface-wise? |
4.
PRACTICE - Does your prototype show what you've learned through
practice on earlier projects? This would include placement of items,
visual techniques, use of color, etc. as they apply to sensible
USABILITY. These are the criteria that show me "where you've been,"
and how it's come into play in the final project. |
5.
PRESENTATION - Is this pleasing and professional? Is your design an
accumulation of your design background and the new skills we've
learned in CWD920? How well is the TOTAL PACKAGE
presented? |

Mary -- I am
just so totally amazed with the results of your project! You've
thought of amenities and useful tools that nobody else thought to
include! Your pages show a tremendous amount of work and a deep
understanding of the objectives of our User Interface Design class!
I love the excitement on your Project pages ... there is a lot going
on, and as you've pointed out in the Discussion area ... you intend
to keep your visitors! There are many things that each of us, as
Designers, would change -- tomorrow, next week, next month ... but
for now, your site has a delicious appeal, an intuitive flow to the
information, and the pages show that you have a gut-level feeling
for what the visitor to a site would want and need. I also like that
you've put a lot of exploratory design into this ... your floating
buttons could easily be taken into rollover effects! The one thing I
would say is that if I had done the upper nav bar, I would consider
a different alignment than the offset buttons, as a more squared
look would feel more comfortable for most people ... we tend to be
raised in a society where the angular box helps us divide
information. I really liked the map and navigation/sign in for the
tourism agents - very effective tool. Keep up the great work! Great
job!
