yep!

2. Create two different "color comps" (or prototypes) of the home page to illustrate the site navigation and the design issue decisions - 6 points each, for a total of 12 points

3. Create one internal page for one of the home page designs - this is
Extra Credit of 3 points

4. Prototypes should be delivered as flattened JPEGs

The 5 P's:

1. PREPARATION - Research, Identity requirements, logo, branding, company structure, etc. How well does your prototype reflect that you've analyzed and researched the elements given by The Starwood Beach Resort?

  * Location

  * Target Market(s)

      ~ Families

      ~ Travel agents

      ~ International audience

  * Branding usage (logo and color usage)

  * Appropriate ameneties, such as fax and 800 services and other 'competitive' business factors

  * Short- and long-term goals of the company

2. PROTOTYPING - Did you "Greek" or did you create copy? Does your prototype have a natural "flow," no matter which way you created the copy?

3. PERFORMANCE - Usability and User Engagement - will the technology support your content? Are the actions you propose and the results a user will get, realistic and in good design, interface-wise?

4. PRACTICE - Does your prototype show what you've learned through practice on earlier projects? This would include placement of items, visual techniques, use of color, etc. as they apply to sensible USABILITY. These are the criteria that show me "where you've been," and how it's come into play in the final project.

5. PRESENTATION - Is this pleasing and professional? Is your design an accumulation of your design background and the new skills we've learned in CWD920? How well is the TOTAL PACKAGE presented?

hot!

Assessment Results:

Melanie -- Your final project has met and exceeded all expectations! Your use of the elements that meet the competencies requirements for User Interface Design shows a tremendous intuition for what this is all about. You've mastered the look, feel and usability for any given Web site - you're a natural at this! Your comprehension also is evident in your writings and depth of understanding of both the designer's stance, as well as from the user's viewpoint. I loved your use of overlay graphics, and the extreme visual impact of these pages. We all know that a site is never finished! There are things that you or I could comment on ... but by tomorrow or next week, you would make the changes anyway ... or come up with things that work just a tiny bit better. That is the story of the Web designer! What you've presented is a high level in design and usability -- and a consistent willingness to review, revamp and accelerate! Vroom! A terrific job!

 19 POINTS!

Thank you! This has been an extemely fruitful class -- LOTS of great work, and we've discovered so much about what is truly effective in the Interface of the Internet. Your participation -- and YOU -- are deeply appreciated :-))
